We're growing, and we're looking for an experienced ecologist to take on more of our ecological project work.
You'll work directly with the Director on a diverse mix of projects across NSW. This is a casual position starting at three days per week, with additional hours and days (up to five days per week) available as workload allows.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and carrying out field surveys, habitat assessments and species monitoring across a range of environments
- Identifying native and invasive flora and fauna, and mapping vegetation communities
- Conducting pre-clearing surveys and clearing supervision (fauna spotter-catcher)
- Assessing potential ecological impacts of proposed developments, including Assessments of Significance and referral considerations under NSW and Commonwealth legislation
- Preparing clear, well-structured technical reports, including Biodiversity Assessments, Reviews of Environmental Factors (REFs) and Remediation Monitoring Reports
- Liaising with clients, contributing to project proposals, and helping design mitigation and management measures
- Maintaining accurate field records and following WHS and environmental standards
Fieldwork is outdoors in all conditions and occasionally involves early starts, late finishes or overnight stays. You'll be based in the Lismore/Casino area with travel to field sites across northern NSW.
There are also opportunities to get involved in our feral animal management and monitoring projects, which may include thermal and drone-assisted surveys, if that interests you.
